May 19th to June 7th Today we traveled (365 miles) to Castle Rock near Denver, Colorado. It was literally right on Route 15 and we had the pleasure of waking to the sound of trains whistling throughout the night!!! May 20th We traveled (280 miles) to Rawlins, Wyoming and had a quiet night…. NO TRAINS!! May 21st - May 25th Teton and Yellowstone Park We arrived at Teton National Park. We were the first campers to make a reservation in 2006 at the Flagg Ranch Resort between Teton and Yellowstone traveling. (Rudy doesn’t think we should call it camping and I am happy that he is right!!!) Today we traveled 335 miles. It was good to see green grass, trees, and bushes on the mountains. The rivers were running fast and almost over flowing. There was snow on the mountains as well as at the campsite. Good thing the restrooms were heated as well as their great laundry room. May 22nd The first day was overcast so we traveled to Jackson Hole to do some chores and look around the town; we had lunch at “BUBBAH’S”, a great rib place. It was 40 miles away and the total miles for the day were 205 miles. On our travels, we saw snow 8 feet high with the temperature going from 30 degrees to 57 degrees in one day. (I got Rudy with a snowball!!) We saw the devastation of the 1988 fire which took out thousands of acres. The trees which did not burn completely, looked like match sticks lying on the side of the mountains. May 23rd The next day we traveled 105 miles though Yellowstone National Park. We saw Old Faithful blow her top, the Great Basin, Lewis Falls, Firehole Canyon and much more. May 24th We traveled to Yellowstone again and visited every stop along the way including the Mud Volcano, Sulfur Caldron and our favorite for the day, Artist Point which housed Lower and Upper Falls. They were magnificent!!! Lower Falls is a 308 foot drop which is a Volcanic formation and Upper Falls is a 109 foot drop and a geological junction. Yellowstone has thousands of tremors annually and I am happy I did not feel one while we were here!!!! There are over 7,000 elk in the area, 5,000 buffalo among many other animals. We just missed seeing a grizzly bear and her cub out in a meadow. Many people were positioned with cameras and binoculars searching, but they didn’t make another showing. I did see a Marmot however!!! On the way out of Yellowstone, we stopped at Old Faithful again and waited about 4 minutes before she blew again!!! This time she shot higher into the sky. It was such a wonder to see. Today we saw many Buffalo with their calves, Prong Horn, Fox and a wolf. We learned that the Prong Horn can run over 65 miles an hour for a very long time making them the fastest animal alive. They can do this because they have an extra large heart and lungs. May 25th Today was chore day…..laundry, vacuuming, cleaning the car, cleaning the RV, etc. We also saw two films on Grizzlies and the Parks at the Visitor Center and both were very interesting. May 26th We traveled (330 miles) from Yellowstone to Campground de Wal-Mart in Great Falls Montana. We had a quiet night. No Trains….. but they had a huge store in the parking lot, imagine that!!!! May 27th to May 30th Glacier National Park We arrived at St. Mary’s, Montana near the East Entrance to Glacier National Park. The last 15 miles, however, it started to sleet and snow and the weather report predicted 15-20 inches of snow in the next two days!!! The road we were on was very twisty, narrow and alongside a cliff. Rudy did a fantastic job of driving our rig and car (about 58 feet long) through the mountains, snow and sleet!!! We woke up to snow one morning, but what would you expect, our campsite was in the clouds!!! The next three days we visited the park. Since one part of the road was covered in snow, (the part that connected the east entrance to the west) we had to go back and forth on the two ends of the road. We traveled on the west road 4 times and the east end 6 times. I think we saw everything!!!! We went on 4-5 trails (only the short ones!!), saw many beautiful waterfalls, exciting gorges, interesting animals and rugged mountains climbing to the sky. The last day was beautiful day and we could finally see the tops of the mountains. We did the whole circuit for the last time which was over 75 miles one way. As we were walking back from a trail, it started to rain. We drove back to our campsite and there was a beautiful blue sky over our RV. May 31st to June 8th Edmonton, Canada We drove from Glacier National Park to Edmonton, Canada. We were the first RV here from our group of 12. About one hour later, the two leaders came into the campgrounds. June 1st Rudy noticed some oil on our car. It looked like there was an oil leak in the RV, so he found a Newmar Dealer to have it looked at. Since the dealer wanted us at 7:30 a.m. and I didn’t have any place to go at that hour, I stayed with our RV. While they were working on the RV, we then took the car and went to the World’s Largest Mall with over 800 stores, 110 restaurants, an ice skating ring as large as Rockefeller Plaza, water park with a wave pool that can house 10,000 people, 4 other theme parks, a bungee jump, world’s largest indoor amusement park with 24 rides, miniature golf course, Sea Lions as well as over 200 marine life species, a Gold’s Gym, two movie theatres, (total of 20 screens) and an IMAX theatre. After we had breakfast, Rudy went to see about the RV and I walked the mall. It took me about 3 hours just to walk the mall!!! June 2nd Since they couldn’t find the leak yesterday, we went at 7:15 a.m. to a mechanic who we hoped could help us. This time I just slept in the back. Well, he found a plug near the oil filter that was loose and fixed it!!! That was lucky!!! After that we washed the RV, we went back to the campground. More RVs arrived and now we are five. June 3rd to June 7th Today we could sleep in…..Hurray!!!! And for the next few days we relaxed, bought food staples, went to the movies, did minor repairs, got to know our caravaners and went to dinner. The entire group is now here!! And tomorrow at 7 am we will be on our way to Dawson Creek which is 360 miles away!!! P.S. If you should write or call and we do not answer right away, please know that many places do not service of any kind. We will get back to you as soon as we arrive at an area with service. Love to all…we miss you!!!
