Almost Day 14 The mornings are always exciting. We pulled the anchor and made our way back to the ICW. When we arrived we saw a BIG barge pushed by a BIG tug on the narrow, shallow ICW. I stopped and waited near where we anchored. He was bigger than I was! Once we got underway we did 56 miles. We stopped early because there weren't any anchorages or marinas for the next 20 miles or so and I was not looking forward to more nighttime navigation on the ICW. The morning brought wind and an adverse current again! By 11:00, the wind was abating and the tide was with us. The scenery in the morning was much the same as we have seen for the last several days....salt marshes and meandering creeks with marginal water depths and tight channels. We did see some nice homes where access by automobile was available. The homes continue to be impressive. The afternoon brought better weather. It was warm and we even had a sail up for several hours. The big change was the scenery. We went from salt marches to stands of cypress and pine clothed in moss in mangrove swamps...very scenic! The channel was much wider and deeper! It made travel for most of the day easier and gave us a chance to appreciate the scenery. We decided to stop at another marina because the weather is forecast to change drastically by tomorrow morning. Wind and rain is forecast for the whole day.....ugh! The Osprey Marina just on the outskirts of Myrtle Beach is very nice! It looks almost new and it is just off of the ICW. The cost is the least expensive we have seen so far, $1.00/ft. The people were very friendly and they even gave us a welcome basket with cheese and crackers, a couple of buns, local information and coupons along with some other things. The facility was clean and quiet! It will be a good place to hide if the weather is really nasty tomorrow. We are getting close...we can see the finish line! The Boundless Crew
