February 22nd We Made It!!! Only FOUR WEEKS, FOUR DAYS AND NINE HOURS!!!!! About 10 p.m. on the 21st, we put the engine on so that we would continue to go about 7 knots. As the sun set, it seem to melt into the ocean on the horizon. It was a beautiful night and the seas were calming down as we headed deeper into the Bahama Channel. Tuesday the 22nd, the wind went down to 0-5 knots, but we were traveling about 8.5 knots because of the Gulf Stream. We sighted Florida about 10:30 a.m. and we were at the 17th Street Bridge in Fort Lauderdale at 2:45 P.M. I realized the voyage for me at least was coming to an end. I will be flying home on Thursday, (Wednesday will be washing clothes day and packing day) while Rudy will bring the boat to North Carolina thru the Intercostal Seaway. His brother Tom will join us in Fort Lauderdale and possibly a friend. They will leave the boat in Wilmington where the boat will be put up for sale. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO: Ground that doesn't move Bed that doesn't roll Stove that doesn't sway Food that doesn't slide Washing my face without holding on I CAN'T WAIT TO: Take long walks Take long showers Make long phone calls Take long car rides Go to the movies, mall, grocery store See family and friends Just the little pleasures in life that I have always taken for granted!!!
