January 25, 2005 Tuesday the 25th, the winds picked up to 10 knots and so we took down the wing on wing. We are going south now to pick up more speed (5-6.5 knots). (Only baked chicken, baked potatoes and broccoli for dinner) About 6 p.m. on the 25th, we had to put the engine on. When the winds picked up around 9 a.m. the following morning, we were able to sail again. As we sailed we were able to watch the dolphins for an hour and a half with a few sword fish thrown in. Then we adjusted the sails back to the wing on wing formation with Rudy reefing in the jib. We did about 6 knots until late in the afternoon. We put the staysail up and so we now had wing on wing on wing??!!! After dinner we took the jib down and put the engine on since the we were going under 5 knots and motor-sailed with the main and staysail. January 27th, we had another visit with the friendly Dolphins. They came flying through the waters from every direction to play with the bow of Boundless. They always look like they are having so much fun!!! Shawn and I always run to the bow of the boat to welcome the Dolphins. She and I have so much fun talking and encouraging them to stay and play!!! We know Shawn and Jon when we meet them in 1999 on Rum Cay in the Bahamas. We also brought in the year 2000 together on Virgin Gourda when Jackie was with us. We saw each other at many different islands and traveled together for a while until they went back to San Francisco where we see them when we visit Jaclyn and Jason. We motor-sailed for the whole day with some tossing and turning from the swells. It is so much fun cooking in these conditions. I feel like I am a juggler in a three ring circus!!! We have decided to go to the Cape Verde Islands in the morning to fill out tanks with fuel. There is a low coming in about 8 days out with very little to no winds and we want to be prepared!!
